The Art & History of Tea

Tea Tasting & Meditative Practice by Vanessa Santos Eugenio

Saturday, May 25th, 2024 — 3-6 PM

Join Vanessa Santos Eugenio for a gentle afternoon, learning a history of tea and creation of various teas, intuitive gongfu style brewing, and meditative practice.

During our time together, we will explore two types of high mountain oolongs and one hong cha (red tea).

While learning about how the teas are harvested and created, we will share about the taste, aroma, and feel of each tea.

She will provide all of the necessary tea and teaware, so all you need to bring is yourself!  No experience or materials necessary.

Vanessa Santos Eugenio: A guiding presence in the world of tea. With over a decade of experience, Vanessa blends her background in Education and Counseling to curate enriching tea workshops. Through these immersive sessions, she creates a space where tea becomes a pathway to mindfulness, self-discovery, and connection. Here's what you’ll learn:

Why do we mend?

-environmental impact /mending as a way of adding value / telling a story / honoring our clothing

-different kinds of stitches and what they're used for (whip stitch and running stitch)

-how to select the right thread and fabric for your mend

-other considerations - decorative mending or invisible mending?

-patching the inside or the outside of a garment?

-button replacement

Supplies you will need:

-pins, needles, scissors, fabric (some provided)

Not covered in this class:

-how to mend knitwear (ie: darning / socks / sweaters)

-zipper replacement

-hemming or tailoring

At this workshop, we sip cacao beverages and are guided through speaking from the heart, as the plant is traditionally enjoyed for connection and opening.

We’ll learn from Mateo and Wasi about Cacao— the plant, the process, the beverage, traditions, earth stewards, bean to bar from Chuncho cacao variety of Southern Peru’s Cusco region, drink hot cacao, taste their goods, and buy some to take home!
